Thrombosis UK is delighted to be named as Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers Running Club charity for 2022.

Every year AFF donates 15% of net income after costs of the 3 club races, the Flitwick 10k, the Marston 5K and the Ampthill Trophy to the charity we have selected.

Throughout 2022, AFF have chosen to support two charities close to the hearts of two of their members. Thrombosis UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

We are extremely grateful to all members and supporters.

In 2021 Equistone nominated Thrombosis UK as their Charity of the year. Thrombosis UK was extremely grateful to everyone at Equistone who fundraised over £35,000 for the charity during an amazing year of virtual events. Donations received supported Thrombosis UK to launch extensive online virtual education activities and support the publication of a National Thrombosis Report.

We welcome your support and if you would like to nominate Thrombosis UK as your organisation’s Charity of the Year please contact admin@thrombosisuk.org

Awareness saves lives – #KnowThrombosis is a global movement that we are proud to be part of to raise awareness and understanding of thrombosis and to share information on risk factors, signs & symptoms of thrombosis, clinical advancements, patient experience, updated national and global guidelines in VTE.

Working in collaboration we inform national services on evidenced practice that reduces the risk and incidence and thrombosis and proven best practice to treat and manage all those diagnosed with a DVT or PE.

#LetsTalkClots is our awareness campaign to shine a light on VTE to increase awareness and maintain NHS focus on reducing and preventing VTE events.

Thrombosis UK works with all stakeholders to support prevention and increased understanding of thrombosis.

Whilst over 90% of our annual funding is as a result of supporter fundraising and donations, we have also benefited from successful grant applications to charitable Trusts; unrestricted educational grants from patient support arms of organisations and received sponsorship for stand displays at educational meetings for health care professionals.

It is very important to us that our work is transparent, and our reputation is based in integrity. We work to do the right thing in the proper way for the people we represent.

We have a strict code of conduct for donations from linked industries and potential corporate partners.

Thrombosis UK will only work with companies where:

  • The activity meets the mission and values of Thrombosis UK

  • Thrombosis UK remains independent and able to speak freely and comprehensively in a balanced way
  • Thrombosis UK can ensure compliance with the conditions of the ABPI Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry
