’m Rebecca and I’m 29 years old.
I presented at the hospital in August 2021 with severe breathlessness and a high heart rate which had got progressively worse over 3 days.
Following tests it was confirmed I’d suffered a pulmonary embolism (PE) which had developed from a DVT that I did not know I had. I already had an idea of the symptoms of PE as exactly a year prior to finding myself in hospital, my partner at the time passed away from a PE.

I recognised the breathlessness and given my asthma medication did not help to relieve it, I knew I needed help.
My clots were diagnosed as ‘unprovoked’ and I have been told I will now be on blood thinners for the rest of my life
Blood clots can literally affect anyone
I really want to raise awareness that blood clots can literally affect anyone, and the mental effect of blood clots can often be so much worse than the clots themselves – something I have found to be true.
