Chris’s gruelling Ride Across Britain

In March 2014, Chris Tweedy’s wife, Nicky, had a routine day case varicose vein operation. Less than 36 hours later she sadly died of a pulmonary embolism when a blood clot formed at the operation site and travelled through her heart to her lungs.

On 7th September 2019, in tribute to Nicky, Chris started the Deloitte Ride Across Britain – a gruelling 9-day, long distance cycle challenge covering 980 miles from the most south westerly point of Cornwall (Land’s End) to the most north easterly tip of Scotland (John o Groats) finishing on 15th September.

He smashed his £2,500 fundraising target and raised an amazing £4,238.86p including Gift Aid in Nicky’s memory, which we are incredibly grateful for.

Helping a lot by donating a little

Your donation will help us to raise awareness about thrombosis. It will also help to fund research looking at why and how a thrombosis occurs and to educate both Professionals and the Public.
