Thrombosis UK works to increase awareness, support and research to extend understanding. We provide free, accredited education and access to medically approved information to improve care for all those affected by thrombosis.
Our priority is for everyone to know the risks, signs and symptoms of venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE) and to support research to extend understanding into the prevention and best management of blood clots.

Lifeblood, the Thrombosis Charity was founded in 2002 by Professor Beverley Hunt, Consultant Haematologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Professor Alan Moody, Professor of Radiology at Nottingham University to address two important issues: improving medical and general knowledge of thrombosis, and raising funds for research into thrombosis.[3]

Annually, following a full audit, we submit out Report and Financial Statements to The Charity Commission and Companies House where they are reviewed for approval and published for public access.

Thrombosis UK works tirelessly to raise awareness, increase understanding, and provide support to all those affected by or at risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), commonly referred to as ‘blood clots’, ‘deep vein thrombosis’ (DVT) and ‘pulmonary embolism’ (PE).

National Thrombosis Week (NTW) is an annual event hosted by Thrombosis UK to increase awareness of thrombosis.
Your donation will help us to raise awareness about thrombosis. It will also help to fund research looking at why and how a thrombosis occurs and to educate both Professionals and the Public.
Thrombosis UK receives no government funding and relies entirely on grants and voluntary donations.
