Educational Events
The Thrombosis UK educational events page for healthcare professionals provides detailed information on a range of upcoming conferences and workshops focused on thrombosis and haemostasis. These events, such as the World Thrombosis Day, ISTH Annual Congress, and various virtual conferences, offer invaluable opportunities for learning, collaboration, and advancing the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of thrombosis-related conditions. The page also emphasizes the importance of donations in supporting these initiatives, as Thrombosis UK operates without government funding
VTE Risk Assessment Tools
First introduced in 2010, and paused during the COVID pandemic, NHS England reinstated the mandatory collection of a VTE risk assessment data for adult inpatients upon admission to acute settings in England in 2024. Risk assessment should be completed on inpatients with 14 hours of admission. NICE guideline (NG89) states that where required, pharmacological thromboprophylaxis should be started within 14 hours of admission. Therefore, risk assessments should be completed prior to this, unless otherwise stated in the population-specific recommendations.
Order patient Resources
The Thrombosis UK resources order page offers healthcare professionals and medical institutions the ability to bulk order printed educational materials about thrombosis. Available resources include awareness cards, infographics, posters, risk assessment guides, and fact sheets covering various topics like hospital-associated blood clots, pregnancy-related risks, and post-clot activity guidelines. These medically approved materials aim to enhance patient education and awareness, supporting the charity’s mission to prevent and manage thrombosis through accessible information. All resources can also be viewed and downloaded for free via the Thrombosis UK website and the “Let’s Talk Clots” app
