Gosport Half Marathon

Gosport Road Runners invite you to take part in the 30th running of the Gosport Half Marathon. The race takes place on 18th November 2018 commencing at 10am.

The venue is Bay House School, 18 Gomer Lane, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire PO12 2QP. There is chip timing.

Race entries tend to be evenly split between Club and non-Club Runners, so there is a good mix of abilities that ensures the race feels busy but rarely crowded.

The 2014 winning man on our new course was Toby Lambert (Winchester & District AC) in a time of 1:08:00 and the winning lady was Emma Macready (Haslemere Border AC) in a time of 1:18:54.

The race is a venue for the Hampshire Road Race League but unfortunately is not suitable for wheelchair athletes.

Course changes

We have made some further small changes to last year’s course. We have taken out the stretch through the housing estate at the far end of the course and moved the turn-round point further on towards the Start. This has been done to remove some pinch-points and improve the general flow.

We are planning a dedicated spectator area on the Course with refreshments and a loo.

The outward leg is mainly run on cycle-paths and pavement, the return leg goes along the Esplanade. The Course is flat save for a short ramp along the Esplanade and a slight incline at Salterns Rd.

At the far end of the Seafront it may be necessary to join the carriageway for a short distance. Care should be taken whilst joining the carriageway.
