Hull Marathon

Organised by runners for runners. Route includes city centre start and finish, Humber Bridge crossing, beautiful parks, historic Old Town and a tour of the UK's next City of Culture.

2.3 milesExpect lots of support as you come into the 120 acres of the city's premier green space opened in 1887 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. Your run passes by some of the park's highlights including the serpentine lake and an animal education centre housing llamas and wallabies, who might also raise a head in acknowledgement as you pass by!

8 miles-As you come off Anlaby Road, your run takes you around the perimeter of the KC Stadium, home to two of the city's professional sporting teams, Hull City and Super League's Hull FC. Hull City almost went bankrupt in 2001, but since then the rise of the city's football team has been little short of miraculous, with successive promotions until the team finally reached the premiership in 2008, while 2013 saw the side contest the FA Cup Final against Arsenal at Wembley. Hull is also a rugby league city and the only city in the country to feature two teams in the country's top flight competition, the Super League, with Hull FC in the west and Hull KR in the east. A big part of Hull City's and Hull FC's success was the move to the 25,000 capacity KC Stadium in 2002, a high quality venue and the only stadium in the country to be built in a parkland setting.

22 miles-The park takes its name from Christopher Pickering, a successful trawler owner who gave the land to the city, with the park opening in 1911. Keep an eye out for the aviary on your right as you run through the wide tree lined avenue, and the finely wrought gates as you leave the park.
