Thrombosis UK is delighted to announce that it has been chosen as Charity of The Year by Equistone for 2021.
In 2019, Equistone committed to establishing a more formalised framework of third sector activity in the UK. As a result, a Charity Committee was established with the aim of supporting a Charity of the Year through raising awareness and fundraising activities.
Annually Equistone invite nominations from staff, and any nominated charity must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Staff and Trustees were delighted to receive news of the nomination from Equistone and following an informative meeting (virtual for 2020), were told the good news!
Equistone will be hosting awareness and fundraising events during 2021 on behalf of Thrombosis UK, have made meeting space in their UK offices and in kind support available for the charity and have confirmed an unrestricted donation of £25,000 to Thrombosis UK, which will enable the charity to significantly extend its support for research into venous thromboembolism (VTE).

Thrombosis UK is committed to promoting and extending education for all those involved with, effected by or interested in thrombosis. Members of Thrombosis UK are regularly involved with teaching and presenting, and our medical leads are globally recognised.
Annually we hold national and regional conferences for healthcare professionals which are endorsed and accredited with professional development CPD Points.

Awareness saves lives – #KnowThrombosis is a global movement that we are proud to be part of to raise awareness and understanding of thrombosis and to share information on risk factors, signs & symptoms of thrombosis, clinical advancements, patient experience, updated national and global guidelines in VTE.
Working in collaboration we inform national services on evidenced practice that reduces the risk and incidence and thrombosis and proven best practice to treat and manage all those diagnosed with a DVT or PE.
#LetsTalkClots is our awareness campaign to shine a light on VTE to increase awareness and maintain NHS focus on reducing and preventing VTE events.

Whilst over 90% of our annual funding is as a result of supporter fundraising and donations, we have also benefited from successful grant applications to charitable Trusts; unrestricted educational grants from patient support arms of organisations and received sponsorship for stand displays at educational meetings for health care professionals.
