Wow, what a year! With your support and involvement, 2019 has proved to be an amazing year for Thrombosis UK and we really would like to thank every single person.

January 2019 saw the launch of the new-look Thrombosis UK e-bay store has been hugely popular. Whether donating items, purchasing from the shop or donating a portion of your personal eBay sell to the charity, this has been a tremendous success enabling us to develop and print more information and resource materials. You can view all here, and there will be several new titles offering information and support on the psychological impact of VTE available in January.

In February requests for awareness and display packs flooded in, providing posters and flysheets, badges to booklets, we circulated over 55,000 resources just in the 2019 requested packs! Really boosting our mission to #KnowThrombosis and #LetsTalkClots.

Fundraisers continued to amaze us throughout 2019. Thrombosis UK could not exist without donations and fundraising activities, again this year so many supporters have been amazing! Our #StepUpToStopClots campaign celebrates coffee mornings, raffles, book publications and more – from 5ks to marathons and challenges the length, breadth and circumference of the UK! Every event, supporter’s voice and penny really does help to increase awareness of thrombosis and support the work of Thrombosis UK to prevent avoidable blood clots and save lives. We are humbled by the courage and determination of all supporters to whom we are eternally grateful. Read many of the incredible accounts

Increasing understanding, raising awareness and maintaining health providers’ focus on thrombosis is key to saving lives. We were extremely proud to work with Prof Roopen Arya, Kings College London, and the VTE Exemplar network to collaborate with NHS Improvement GIRFT programme and secure the launch of the very first national NHS GIRFT Thrombosis Survey. Data gathered from the Thrombosis Survey will inform on the way services are delivered across the England and Wales, and by sharing best practice between trusts and Health Boards, GIRFT can identify changes that will help improve care and patient outcomes.

We’ve also welcomed over 750 delegates to our 2019 Thrombosis UK conferences! Sharing, updating and learning to improve VTE prevention and management. With conference slides free to access, it really has been a busy year in our work to prevent, protect and inform with the #LetsTalkClots programme.

Thrombosis UK’s work is driven by all those whose lives have been affected. Everyone – anyone, can be at risk of thrombosis. Knowing the risks, signs and symptoms save lives, just read some of the many shared stories.

Our work continues to prevent all avoidable VTEs through awareness, education and research, but with your help we are making a difference.

Thank you
