It is with sadness that Thrombosis UK share the news of Mr Brian Gardner’s death.

Brian died peacefully on 22rd February. He was a founding trustee for Thrombosis UK, or Life Blood as the charity was then called. Accepting the post of Treasurer, he was extremely able, ensured that Thrombosis UK got off on a sound financial footing and for many years was a key person in making a massive difference to the establishing, growth and sustainability of Thrombosis UK.

As an individual, Brian was a very lovely man, highly honourable and trustworthy he always had a spring in his step and a positive ‘can-do’ approach.

Brian will be much missed and everyone at Thrombosis UK send sincere condolences to his wife Pam, family and friends.

In April 2016 Jo was thrilled and honoured to be invited to become CEO of Thrombosis UK. A teacher for many years, Jo became involved in patient advocacy following her young daughter's diagnosis of a long-term condition.

Currently Jo sits as a Lay representative on NICE Indicators, West of England AHSN Patient Safety committee, and on research and project development groups.
