Thrombosis UK held its first webinar on ‘Learning & Management in Thrombosis & Covid-19’, with more than 900 people registering to attend

As the UK manages the Covid-19 pandemic, this webinar will discuss management of thrombotic risk, diagnosis and treatment in patients diagnosed with Covid-19.

Existing guidance, recent local changes in practice and emerging evidence will all be considered through presentations, discussion and with opportunity to pose questions

Professor Beverley Hunt OBE

Professor of Thrombosis & Haemostasis @Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, London

Professor Beverley Hunt OBE is Professor of thrombosis and haemostasis at King’s College and Guy's & St Thomas's, London and is a consultant in the departments of haematology & pathology. She is a national and international expert in thrombosis and acquired bleeding disorders. She has sat on multiple national and international guideline writing groups, including NICE has extensive clinical experience of thrombotic and acquired bleeding disorders and runs a very active research group with over 350 peer-reviewed publications to her name. She is Medical Director of Thrombosis UK and chair of the steering committee of World Thrombosis Day.

Dr Susie Shapiro

Consultant Haematologist @Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT)

Dr Shapiro works entirely in the field of haemostasis and thrombosis, across haemophilia and other bleeding disorders, thrombosis and anticoagulation. Until recently she was the OUHFT leads for both thrombosis prevention and anticoagulation, and she is currently Director of the Oxford Haemophilia Centre. She has particular interest in improving patient safety, with projects to optimise anticoagulation winning national awards; and in improving knowledge of aging and comorbidities in haemophilia including with respect to new innovative treatments. Her research interests complement her clinical work and she is an MRC clinical fellow investigating cancer associated thrombosis.

Dr Daniel Horner

Professor of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine Consultant in Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine, Salford Royal NHS FT @Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust

Dan Horner is a consultant intensivist and emergency physician at a large major trauma centre in the North West of England. He also chairs the thrombosis committee at Salford and has led the service towards recognition as an exemplar centre for thrombosis care and several national awards within the last 5 years. Dan is regional theme lead for Trauma and Emergency care research within the Greater Manchester Clinical Research Network and has an active critical care, emergency medicine and thrombosis research portfolio.
