On 21st May 2017, Prashant Patel passed away due to thrombosis.

Everyday his family remember him, and are sharing his story to help protect others.

Prashant was an active and healthy father and husband. When he first developed symptoms everyone thought it may be food poisoning, and even when he saw his local GP to be checked he was told to just rest and take it easy for the next few days.

The next day Prashant was still feeling nauseous and went to the bathroom and collapsed, unable to stand or move.

Prashant’s wife and daughter urgently called the emergency services for an ambulance and he was blue-lighted to hospital. But things got worse and he suffered a stroke and shortly after his stroke he went into cardiac arrest and suffered a heart attack. The doctors transferred him to the amazing hospital St Georges hospital where they tried to operate on the clot but his blood vessel was too thin to access and he sadly went into a coma and the doctors informed his family that he wouldn't be able to make it.

Prashant’s daughter, Keya explains, “I would have never expected for this to happen to my dad, he was such an amazing and kind person and it was such a shock to us. It has taught me to listen to instincts and trust your gut when it comes to your health.”

In 2021 Keya is taking part in a marathon walk in memory of her father, Prashant, all funds raised are being donated to Thrombosis UK. You can support her by donating here: http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/keya-patel56
