10 day cycle from the Pacific to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica

November of 2016, embarks us – Emma and Pamela – upon a 500 kilometre, 10 day cycle from the Pacific to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, in hopes of raising enough money in aid of Thrombosis UK. Thrombosis UK focuses on the awareness, research, care of thrombosis and those who are affected by it. The charity supports the research of thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms commonly known as blood clots or DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis).

Thrombosis is a narrowed, damaged or block blood vessel which can be caused due to multiple reasons such as, immobility, surgery, broken bones, or protein c deficiency. Every year an estimated 25,000 people in the UK die from thrombosis due to the fact that they are simply not aware of the symptoms or preventative measures.

Until Thrombosis UK, there has been no lead independent body for thrombosis research within the UK. We are asking for your donation in order to help Thrombosis UK, a less well-known and hardworking charity to continue research, diagnosis and the management and awareness of living with thrombosis.

This charity is close to our hearts as Emma has been the first in her family to have been diagnosed with a genetic blood disordered, protein c deficiency, which causes thrombosis. We are thankful that Emma has been diagnosed early on which means that she is now aware of the symptoms and can properly monitor her disorder.

Our goal is to raise £6,000 pounds or more, please help us in our journey to make this happen!
