NTW – Held annually in May
Hosted in the first full week of May, this is Thrombosis UK’s annual awareness week. With educational events, displays, and media activities to shine a light on thrombosis in the UK.
Everyone is invited to join in – share your story, contact your local radio station or newspaper to add NTW to their calendar, hold an awareness activity, distribute information.
Throughout NTW we will raise awareness of blood clots. In 2025 the campaign will focused on: ‘Let’s Talk Clots.’
Blood clots can affect anyone, but knowing the risks and symptoms can save lives. Let’s Talk Clots and start the conversation!
Working together we can all make a difference in preventing harm and saving lives.

This research initiative aims to gather critical insights directly from patients to inform global efforts in improving diagnosis, treatment protocols and overall patient outcomes.
The survey is for patients living with severe thrombophilia, including:
Developed by Thrombosis UK along with World Thrombosis Day and with international collaborators and medical experts, the survey is designed to capture the real experiences of people living with severe thrombophilia and to help shape the future of treatment.
This research has the potential to influence medical guidelines, treatment approaches and support services worldwide.

Thrombosis UK has received a request from a team of researchers at Middlesex University and Uppsala University who are looking to conduct a research study on chronic pain and are looking for potential participants who will receive free psychological therapy and lifetime access to an online therapy platform at no cost.
Study Information:
Living with chronic pain can be overwhelming, impacting both mental and physical well-being. Psychological interventions can help manage these challenges, but their effectiveness varies among individuals. The goal of the work is to understand how different people respond to Internet-based psychological therapy and determine what works best for them.
By participating, individuals will not only gain access to free therapy but also contribute to valuable research that could improve chronic pain management strategies for others.

A team from Imperial College London are seeking a patient representative to join the ACUTE project which is currently preparing to apply for grant funding. Read the plain language summary.
The team is seeking a patient/public member to be a co-applicant for this project at 2% FTE. Involvement would include reviewing study protocol, patient-facing materials and attendance at study meetings depending on availability.

The ACUTE project team invites interested individuals to participate in a survey to share their thoughts on the study.
Thrombosis UK Closed Facebook page provides friendship, discussion, information and support to all those affected by venous thromboembolism (VTE).
Volunteering can be a one-off or a regular commitment – what best suits you.
Examples how a volunteer might help:
1. Share their story to help others.
2. Raise a voice for thrombosis.
Each year Thrombosis UK hold awareness campaigns. Press and media coverage is critical to increasing awareness to many 1000s of people.
Would you consider sharing your story and where you are based (region), so that we can include you on our bank of volunteers we could call upon if approached by a journalist seeking to include a newspaper, TV or radio article about thrombosis?
Are you a confident communicator and comfortable presenting to an audience? Local centres seeking to deliver educational sessions for healthcare professional (HCPs) often approach Thrombosis UK and ask if we may know of a person happy to share their experience of a blood clot to help HCPs understand this from a patient perspective and experience. WTD takes place every year on 13 October, this is the birthday of Rudolf Virchow who was a pioneer in the pathophysiology of thrombosis.
A global event hosted by World Thrombosis Day (WTD), it focuses attention on thrombosis.
WTD embraces thousands of educational events across the world, and brings together in partnership patients, healthcare professionals, policy makers, research and industry supporters to place a global spotlight on thrombosis as an urgent and growing health problem.
Your donation will help us to raise awareness about thrombosis. It will also help to fund research looking at why and how a thrombosis occurs and to educate both Professionals and the Public.
