On 4th October 2014, Charlotte Anderson’s brother, Matthew, died suddenly and unexpectedly from a pulmonary embolism.
Charlotte told us: “Matthew was 43 when he passed and working as a mobile telecommunications engineer. He previously served (straight from leaving school) in the Army as a Signalman in the Royal Signals and served out in the Gulf during the Gulf war. Although I orchestrate the events my Mum is a great help and Matthew’s wife helps with what she can. Matt’s wife Nichole and children Zac, Corban, and Jorja all miss him terribly. My brother was always the life and soul of any gathering, he had an amazing aura about him that people just radiated to.
In 2016 Charlotte undertook a variety of events and raised over £2,000 for Thrombosis UK in his memory and in 2019, Charlotte came back to undertake another fundraiser for us. On 26th October, despite terrible weather conditions, there was a good turnout for their event, and they raised a further £515.
We cannot thank Charlotte and her family enough for all their hard work on our behalf. Fundraisers such as them make a massive difference to the vital work we can undertake raising awareness, educating health professionals and the public, and providing much-needed support to patients, carers and families like theirs affected by thrombosis.
