Alan Jones-Bratt lost his beloved wife, Mary, in January 2023 as a result of an undiagnosed pulmonary embolism (PE).
Alan contacted Thrombosis UK early in 2024 sharing his wish to honour his wife by doing a 50 mile walk across 5 days and 5 parks in August. Now for most young fit and healthy people this would be a challenge, so when you hear Alan is 82, has mobility issues and is partially sighted it just make the challenge he has undertaken incredible!
Alan walked across the 5 parks:
Mon 12th August – Windsor Great Park – 10 miles
Tuesday 13th August – Hyde Park, London – 10 miles
Thursday 15th August – Sutton Park, Birmingham – 10 miles
Friday 16th August – Sandwell Park, West Bromwich – 10 miles
Saturday 17th August – Cannock Chase – 10 miles
Not only was this a huge challenge, but Alan undertook the challenge during the hottest week of 2024!
Amazingly, Alan is on target to raise £3,000, and total funds raised will be split equally between Thrombosis UK and The Asthma Relief charity.
Alan has to be our one of our fundraiser Clare’s favourite fundraiser of 2024. Not only because of the challenge but also the love it shows he had for his late wife and the sheer determination he has to complete this challenge.
Well done Alan we are all so proud of you at Thrombosis UK.
